October 29, 2001 - RENO, NEVADA - Gamma Films announces that the locally-produced feature film “The Harvesters” (1999) was presented with the “Thriller of the Year” award on Saturday, October 27th, at the WYSIWYG (pronounced: wiz-ee-wig) Film Festival in San Francisco. The Film weathered the stiff competition and was selected as one of only 15 films to be screened at the Festival. An additional affirmation was presented when it was also chosen as one of the few to be broadcast on national television during the festival.

“The Harvesters” was produced and shot almost in its entirity in northern Nevada by then EPYK Entertainment (now Gamma Films). EPYK’s President (now President of Gamma Films) Matthew Kilburn, submitted the film at request of the Festival’s organizers after they learned of it from Integrity Casting’ President, Toni Suttie, who cast the project.

This marked the public premier and first national broadcast of this previously un-distributed film, which garnered a tremendous amount of attention at the Festival. Distributors from as far away as Singapore have begun negotiation for international exhibition.

“The Harvesters” marked the first feature film project for Producer and Reno-native, Matthew Kilburn, who is a 15+ year veteran of media/entertainment development. “Reno is my hometown,” Kilburn stated proundly, “and northern Nevada is an exceptional place to make movies…mountains, deserts, cities, rural areas and so much more, give us tremendous flexibility in creating virtually any place on earth…or beyond,” he mused. Kilburn hinted at a forthcoming announcement regarding a more “alien” project.

The leadership of Gamma Films would like to once again thank all of the businesses and individuals who so generously participated in the making of “The Harvesters”. This is only the beginning!
