In this modern age of filmmaking, the art and craft of film has less to do with the equipment than it does with the talent and ability of the people using the equipment. The most expensive camera and gear can never compensate for a poor script or mediocre utilization. Conversely, the most basic of equipment can be more than adequate as long as the script is strong and the individuals using it have talent and ability.
In keeping with the modern trends in filmmaking, the move from film to digital acquisition, the Renowood Film Academy will focus on equipment that is generally more accessable to new filmmakers, emphasizing 24pDV and 24pHD. Additionally, students will be exposed to a variety of cameras (from 35mm to MiniDV), grip equipment and post-production tools (film cutting to non-linear editing).
